Quick Answer

The best place to stay in Lahinch is in or near the promenade, walking distance from the beach, the restaurants, and the famous links golf course. Lahinch is the most flexible Clare base — it has the choice and amenities Doolin lacks, and the Cliffs of Moher are just 20 minutes away.

Why Base Yourself in Lahinch

Lahinch is the practical big sister to Doolin. It sits on a wide, west-facing Blue Flag beach that draws surfers all year (the Atlantic swells here are legendary), and the town wraps around a single promenade lined with cafés, surf shops and bars. It's not pretty in the cinematic Dingle-or-Kenmare way — it's a working seaside town — but it has more hotels and a livelier evening than anywhere else in Clare.

The location is the real win. Lahinch is 20 minutes from the Cliffs of Moher, 25 minutes from Doolin and the Aran ferry, and a short drive into the Burren — so you can base here and do everything Clare offers without changing hotels. It's also the home of Lahinch Golf Club, one of Ireland's most-famous links courses, which makes it a strong pick for golfers.
